. . . a
love story waiting to happen
*Fireflies mate when they find another firefly whose tail
flashes at the same frequency
This funny and intensely moving piece from ‘England’s
most underated playwright’ (City Life) is about 2 people
living on an estate in north Manchester. When the play opens
they don’t know each other.
The story takes place during a critical 10 minutes of their
lives.
Leigh has phoned for a taxi to take her to the airport. She’s
going to Italy to find her real dad.
Nelson is the taxi driver, this is his last night on the cars.
Exhausted by trying to look after his heroin-addicted daughter
he’s decided to leave after this one last fare.
Throughout the 90 minutes of the play their stories spin out,
populated by the residents of the estate, revealing in raw
passionate language the lives that they’ve led and leaving
the audience in no doubt that Leigh and Nelson are flashing
at the same rate.
If only . . .
Production of Fireflies has been postponed, and details will
be put on the website when available
